Faulty water level sensor

The water level sensor failure is evidenced by the following situation. An acceptable amount of laundry is loaded into the drum, the washing program is selected correctly, and the spin speed is correct. After pressing the start button the program begins its work, and the washing machine operates in normal mode. However, when it is time to spin the laundry, the drum cannot reach sufficient speed, the washing program stops, and the laundry in the drum remains unspun.

The reason is a faulty water level sensor which, by measuring the water level in the tank, cannot detect that the wastewater has already been drained. The control module continues to send a command to the washer-dryer nodes to drain, but it is not repeated because there is no more water in the tank. Under these conditions, the drum rotates in the normal mode and does not proceed to the spin phase.

In order to eliminate the breakdown, it is necessary to diagnose the functionality of the water level sensor. Only an experienced specialist will be able to determine whether it is necessary to repair the sensor or replace it completely with a new one. In some cases, it is enough to clean the tube of the water level sensor or change its hose. In more serious breakdowns, a complete replacement of the faulty element may be required.

The belt is stretched or broken

The drum of almost any washing machine is driven by a drive belt (except, for example, LG, which uses direct motor technology without a belt). It wraps around the pulley of the drum, and the motor accelerates it by attaching the belt to the motor shaft. This technology is quite reliable, but the drive belt has a certain resource of work, when this resource is exhausted, the belt stretches and begins to slip or break altogether.

In either case, the belt must be replaced. A clear sign that the drive belt is stretched is when the drum is unable to reach sufficient speed during the spin phase, but the engine is running at a high load. At a certain moment, you can smell burning rubber. If the belt breaks completely, the engine will run normally, but the drum stands still and does not rotate.

Replacing the drive belt is easy enough. It is only necessary to buy a new drive belt of the appropriate brand in advance. Next, remove the rear panel of the washing machine housing, unscrewing the fasteners on the perimeter. So we get access to the belt, which is stretched or broken. Remove the old belt, and in its place install a new belt, gently scrolling the pulley of the drum.

Collector motor brushes are worn out

Most modern washing machines are equipped with a new type of motor, which is produced by inverter technology. If you are the lucky owner of a washing machine with just such a motor, then the wear of the brushes will not be the reason why the drum does not pick up speed. In inverter motors, graphite brushes are simply absent. Accordingly, the brushes can only be the cause of insufficient drum speed in a collector-type motor.

An obvious sign of wear of the motor brushes is insufficient drum speed and the washing machine motor sparks in parallel. Due to the wear of the graphite brushes, the motor does not have enough power to accelerate the drum speed to the required level. Accordingly, the normal spinning of the laundry at high speeds in such conditions is completely ruled out, it is necessary to completely replace the worn brushes.

Replacement of the graphite brushes on the motor is not so difficult to make, it will be able to do it by someone who understands the device of the washing machine. However, given the fact that the work must be carried out with the motor of the washing machine, it is strongly recommended to contact only an experienced specialist who will perform the replacement correctly. By the way, brushes with a length of less than a centimeter are subject to mandatory replacement.
