The heating element is the main reason why a washing machine may refuse to heat water. If the water is not heated, then things are not washed, and water, electricity, and detergents are wasted.
But, why is the water not heated? How to eliminate such a malfunction, and what needs to be repaired? Let’s try to answer these questions.
The first thing you need to understand is why the water is not heated. It is worth mentioning such breakdowns as the failure of the water level sensor, a break in the heating element, and a break in the heating element circuit. However, the root cause of this problem is considered to be a faulty heating element. After all, this part is responsible for heating the water in the machine to a certain temperature.
Thus, starting to repair the machine, you must first disconnect it from the power supply, and only then proceed to remove the heating element. To get the heating element of the washing machine, it is necessary to dismantle the back wall of the washing unit. Having reached the spare part, you need to disconnect the two wires and measure the resistance with a tester. Thanks to the tester readings, you can determine the condition of the heating element. A serviceable heating element should have a resistance of 24 to 50 ohms. If you see a unit on the tester, this indicates that the heating element is faulty. And it needs to be reinstalled. When all the values are in order, you need to check the resistance between the ground and the phase. If the heating element is in good condition, there should be no resistance, and if this is not the case, it must be replaced.
If everything is normal, check the water level sensor. Very often the water level sensor tube can be clogged with hair or lint from things. All this can negatively affect the relationship between the relay and the electronic module. The machine can be filled with the right amount of water, but there will be no water heating because the control module does not receive the appropriate command. In order to eliminate such a malfunction, you need to remove the water level sensor tube and clean it.
Well, the last reason why water heating may be absent is a wire break. In many washing machines, the wires are located near the body itself, which leads to their rapid wear. In this case, the wires need to be either replaced or insulated.
If you have considered all of the above options, and your machine still does not heat water, contact a specialist for help.
